The Secret MRI Safety Video Page.

By Tobias Gilk

As far as secrets go, it’s not anywhere close to, ‘Honey, I’ve been dating your best friend for years.” Nonetheless, it’s time for us to come clean. We’ve been hiding something from you.

Ever wanted to see what a MRI looks like when it blows up? Every wanted to really see the force an MRI exerts on ferromagnetic materials? Ever been curious about just how much damage a missile accident could cause? Well here’s your opportunity.

We’ve long touted the photos available on our friend, Moriel NessAiver’s website SimplyPhysics.com. They’re a powerful reminder of just how strong magnetic attraction is with contemporary MRI equipment and just how seriously we all need to take MRI safety.

Moriel, we’re throwing down the gauntlet. We’re going video!

For those naysayers who contend that the images are staged, the combination of photos and video should help to demonstrate just how real these accidents are.

A couple months ago we built a webpage with links to these videos to test this new service. We’ve shared the address with a few colleagues, but it appears that word is leaking out and the videos are spreading like wild-fire. Now it’s time we made sure that you had a chance to view them, too.

To get to the super-top-secret page, click the link below. As it says on the destination page, these videos eat large chunks of our allowable bandwidth, so we may need to suspend their availability temporarily.
